The Martial art we practice at SNW Karate is Shito-ryu karate which is a more realistic style Karate based on close quarter combat, and self-defence. It is a very comprehensive martial art which combines locks, throws and take-downs with kicking and punching. The venue for our martial arts lessons is Christ Church C of E Primary School, in Whitby on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.
We try and make our lessons as much fun as possible whilst embracing the fact that the ethos behind karate is discipline, respect for yourself and respect for others.
The chief instructor for our martial arts classes is Steve Bolland, who has many years of professional experience in running a karate club and he is a 6th Dan Black belt himself. All of the instructors at the club can train from beginner level through to Black belt, and they are all Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked (this used to be CRB).
